Privacy Policy & GDPR compliance

Incognito Dance take your Data protection very seriously.

With the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), we are making it very clear what data we hold on our students, what we do with it and where we keep it. This is your data, so you have choices on what we do with it and can ask us to remove your information or update it (where possible). Please read on to find out more.

Who We Are

Incognito Dance is the official name of our company, operating in and around London but teaching around the world in various countries. We value the privacy of our students and we don’t share your data with anyone for the purposes of making money or advertising. We have a small team who help us with admin, web stuff and marketing. They will have access to your names and email addresses, but use this only for what we ask them to do.

Types of Data We Collect

On our website we use cookies (which are GDPR compliant, see our Cookie Policy) for Google Analytics and if you login to book a course. These are just tracking cookies so that the server can remember you from one page to the next. For our analytics, no personal data is stored that can link back to you except for maybe the IP address. We don’t record names in google analytics. This data is solely used to let us measure the number of people visiting our website and what they are looking at.

If you book a course through our website or in our clubs, we may ask for your name, address, email and telephone number. This is for the purposes of running the course/event and we do not use this information for anything else. Once the course is over, if we do not need to keep the data for legal or insurance reasons, we will delete the data from any servers or computers it may be on, and shred any hard copies of lists.

When you buy a course from us, we keep a data base of your class credits and update the credits each time you use them. This data base has no personal data, just your name. If you have booked online, the credit / debit card company or Paypal would have your secure data protected, we don’t have any access to that information.

We maintain a mailing list containing names and email addresses in Mailchimp. We use this to send out a monthly email newsletter. You have the option to sign up to our mailing list online or through our clubs. If you are on this list, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of the email. We will no longer send you emails after this. We may use some analytics in Mailchimp to show us numbers of people opening the emails and what links they click on. This is for our own internal purposes and not shared with anyone else.

Access To Your Personal Information

If you would like to know exactly what information we hold on file for you, please contact us at [email protected] and once we confirm your identity (we obviously won’t just give out information to anyone), we will respond in a timely manner with all of the personal data we hold on you. If this is out of date, it can be corrected or you can ask us to remove it. By doing so, we will no longer be able to contact you and may not be able to let you know about upcoming classes and events. Each request will be reviewed as we do need to keep some details for legal reasons for a minimum time.

Website management

The Incognito Dance website has a secure GDPR compliant Security Certificate (SSL).  Information you send or get through the site is private.

What is a Security Certificate? When you go to a site that uses HTTPS (connection security), the website’s server uses a certificate to prove the website’s identity to browsers, like Chrome. To help you stay on safe on the web, Chrome requires websites to use certificates from trusted organisations.

Our website management platform WordPress is also constantly updated to ensure your data is protected at all times. Innermedia is the company we use to manage the website.

Changes to this Policy

We will update this policy over time. The last update was on 24th May 2018. We will aim to advise you when this policy is updated but we urge you to read it carefully if you have any queries.
